Van kills ‘spooked’ horse on I35W

A saddled horse was killed by a van Saturday night after it got “spooked” and ran onto Interstate 35W in south Fort Worth, police reported.

The horse was hit about 11 p.m. just north of Altamesa Boulevard. Police did not know whether the rider was bucked off or dismounted, said Sgt. Steve Enright, a Fort Worth police spokesman.

A passenger in the van was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky. — Monica S. Nagy
