The body of a 17-year-old from Fort Worth has been recovered from Benbrook Lake, a game warden said Sunday.

The boy went missing Saturday evening after a boat capsized, Capt. Cliff Swofford said Sunday. Swofford is with Texas Parks & Wildlife.

Swofford said two other boys also in the boat made it to shore.

The victim has been identified as Matthew Franklin, 17, of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Sunday. Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:53 p.m. Saturday.

A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.

His family told WFAA-TV that Franklin was an avid fisherman and went out on Benbrook Lake often. They say the water was choppy Saturday night when he was out fishing with friends.

Divers recovered the teen’s body after searching the lake for a few hours.

The 17-year-old was a junior at Paschal High School, according to his family who spoke with WFAA-TV. He was the youngest of five and leaves behind three sisters and a brother.
