Never mind the traffic.

Drawn by half-price gate fees, 18,869 spring breakers went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Wednesday, traditionally its busiest day of the year.

Last year, cool weather and gusty winds kept crowds down to 14,000. In 2013, the zoo saw a record 26,370 visitors.

Youngsters, parents and animal lovers arrived ready to have fun. Visitors were drawn to baby and juvenile animals such as Dilly the giraffe. Baby elephants Bell and Bowie drew oohs and aahs.
