Mayor Betsy Price planning to attend Donald Trump inaugural ceremonies

Mayor Betsy Price plans to attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration while she is in Washington D. C. in January, according to published reports.

Price, a Republican, will be in D.C. for the U.S. Conference of Mayors to be held Jan. 17-19. The inaugural events begin Jan. 20. Price did not attend a Fort Worth Trump rally during the presidential campaign that attracted thousands of supporters, a story from WFAA said. Price also missed a major donor lunch the Trump campaign held in Fort Worth in August, according to WFAA.

“I want to go and just see," she told News 8 about the inauguration. "It will be a nice chance to have an opportunity to talk, hopefully, to some of his new people."

The mayor has not communicated with Trump’s transition team or anyone with the future administration, but hopes to highlight how important it is for the federal government and major Texas cities, like Fort Worth, to communicate, the WFAA story said.

“There are lots of needs that cities face from infrastructure to transportation funding that they are going to be forced to deal with," Price said to a WFAA reporter. "I think he understands most of the nation's highways are getting really old."
