A woman who died after the Chevy Tahoe she was riding in went off a bridge and into a creek Saturday has been identified as Abigail Resendiz, 21.

Drowning with hypothermia was listed as Resendiz’s cause of death by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. Robert Weinstein, 71, of Addison, also died in the crash in west Fort Worth near Interstate 30 and Camp Bowie West.

Weinstein, who was the driver, also died of drowning with hypothermia, according to the medical examiner’s office.

A third person, a woman, was at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in good condition.

The 911 call came in at 9:45 p.m. and Resendiz was found in the water 30 minutes later, said Lt. Kyle Falkner, a Fort Worth fire spokesman. She was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where she died.

The entire vehicle had to be pulled out for firefighters to use the Jaws of Life and cut Weinstein out of the Tahoe. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Falkner said. His cause of death was not listed Sunday evening.

The vehicle left the eastbound lanes of I-30 about 9:30 p.m. and plunged into Mary’s Creek, Fort Worth police said. When firefighters arrived, they found the woman who rescued herself, who told them there were two more people in the vehicle, said Battalion Chief Richard Harrison.

Fort Worth police could not say Sunday whether weather or icy roads were a factor.

“We are waiting for the investigator’s report,” said officer Daniel Segura, a police spokesman.

Authorities said two teams of four divers had to rotate in and out of the search every 5-6 minutes because of the cold.

Staff writer Patrick M. Walker contributed to this report.
