Fort Worth waives pet adoption fees for Thanksgiving weekend

The City of Fort Worth is waiving pet adoption fees for the Thanksgiving weekend, starting Thursday through Sunday.

The Best Friends Animal Society and Zappos.com are sponsoring the costs, said city spokeswoman Diane Covey.

The animal shelter has been working at capacity in recent months, Covey said. More than 17,000 pets enter the shelter each year, with about 90 percent of those animals coming off the streets.
