Fire damages two homes in Fort Worth

A car fire spread to two homes Friday morning, causing heavy damage to the structures, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported in the fire that was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Pollard Drive.

Nine people in the two homes escaped, said Battalion Chief Richard Harrison on Friday. A Chihuahua was rescued out of one of the homes by a firefighter.

The fire began in a car that was parked in a carport on Pollard Drive.

“One of the residents reported that he had just arrived home and had parked the car,” Harrison said. “He went back out and found the car was on fire.”

The car fire spilled over to the home at 5852 Pollard Drive, and then spread over to the adjacent home at 5856 Pollard Drive, fire officials said.

Harrison said the fire caused heavy damage to the home at 5852 Pollard Drive, and the blaze went into the attic and a wall at the residence at 5856 Pollard Drive.
