Police have confiscated two vehicles as evidence in connection with the disappearance of Zuzu Verk, a north Fort Worth woman missing since Oct. 12 in Alpine. A student at Sul Ross State University, she went on a date the night before and didn’t show up for work or class the next day.

A post on the Alpine Police Department’s Facebook page said that a white 2016 Ford Mustang and a gray 2005 Ford F-150 were seized. Police are asking that anyone who might have seen either vehicle between midnight Oct. 12 through the morning of Oct. 13 to contact Alpine police at 432-837-3486.

Police said investigators believe that the Mustang is a key piece of evidence, according to the Facebook post.

“A search warrant has been obtained and a forensic team is now processing the vehicle for evidence,” police said about the Ford pickup.

Two other vehicles have previously been identified as cars of interest: a gray 2006 Jeep Liberty and a 2004 Mazda Miata convertible with a beige top.

Alpine police have been reviewing hundreds of hours of surveillance video received from businesses and private citizens, which they say have provided key evidence in the investigation, and are urging local citizens who have security cameras at home to assist.

A candlelight vigil for Verk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday at Bear Creek Park, 400 Bear Creek Park Road in Keller. She is a graduate of Timber Creek High School in north Fort Worth.

Police said that Verk’s boyfriend is the last person known to have seen her and that he is not cooperating with detectives.

The boyfriend, whom Verk’s father referred to as Robert, hired an attorney and has refused to talk with detectives, Police Chief Russell Scown said at a news conference last week.

On Friday, Alpine police posted a notice on their Facebook page of the $100,000 reward, up from $7,500 initially. The post includes photos of Verk and a physical description: white female, 5 feet tall, 110 pounds, blond hair and hazel eyes.
