An 18-year-old Joshua man has died at a local hospital after being shot during the weekend in Fort Worth, police said. Fort Worth police are working the case as a homicide.

A Joshua teen died from multiple gunshot wounds in a Friday afternoon shooting on a city street, according to a Monday ruling by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Chaz Gilley, 18, died from the wounds all over his body on Saturday at John Peter Smith Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s website on Monday. Gilley’s death was ruled a homicide.

Gilley died in the operating room almost 24 hours after being shot, police said.

The shooting call came in shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday at 2350 E. Berry St.

Paramedics who responded found Gilley at a neighborhood fire station, where a motorist had taken him. Gilley was shot several times, authorities said.

The teen was taken to John Peter Smith, where he died Saturday.

Police did not release any additional details or a motive for the killing.

“Homicide detectives are investigating the incident at this time,” officer Jimmy Pollozani said in an email Sunday. “No further information will be revealed as homicide detectives are in the initial stages of the investigation.”
