Man dies in construction equipment wreck

A Fort Worth man died after crashing into construction equipment on a highway Saturday, according to authorities.

William Clark, 51, was pronounced dead shortly before 5 a.m. in the emergency room of John Peter Smith Hospital, a news release from the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said.

Officers were called to the 2500 block of Northeast Loop 820 about 4:20 a.m. in reference to the collision, a police spokeswoman said. Clark was traveling east and apparently did not see heavy equipment that was crossing the lanes of traffic, according to police.

Officers found Clark unresponsive, and he was taken to the hospital. Clark’s cause of death was listed as blunt-force trauma to the chest and abdomen due to a motor-vehicle collision, and the manner of death was listed as accidental, the medical examiner’s office reported.
