Fort Worth officer shot Friday still listed as stable
Fort Worth police officer Xavier Serrano on Sunday was still listed as stable, two nights after he was shot multiple times while answering a call about a possible suicide in south Fort Worth.
Serrano was shot in the shoulder, arm and upper body. Officer Ray Azucena also was shot but the bullet hit him in the chest and was deflected by body armor.
The man who opened fire on the officers was identified as Martin Craig Fleece, 55, who died in a shed in the back yard of the home. His father, Carl Fleece, 81, was fatally shot inside the home.
The Fort Worth Police Officers Association is taking donations to help support Serrano as well as other injured or fallen officers and their families. Assist the Officer Foundation Fort Worth is a charitable organization in partnership with the FWPOA. To donate, go to www.atofortworth.org.
