Police are searching for three men who stole a car last month after the driver gave them a lift to a gas station in south Fort Worth.

A police news release Thursday described the victim as a “Good Samaritan” who drove the robbers to a Valero station on Oak Grove Road about midnight Aug. 25.

At the gas station, the car owner, 43, got out of his 2014 Kia Forte to pump gas while two of the robbers went inside the store to pay, said Officer Tamara Valle, a police spokeswoman.

The third man, who stayed in the car, climbed into the driver’s seat and turned on the ignition. The car owner, police said, began to struggle with him.

“During the struggle, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired it into the air,” the police statement said.

The robbers drove off in the car, police said. The car was found wrecked in the 3600 block of Pate Drive, a few miles north of the station, according to a police report.

One of the robbers was wearing tan shorts with a white tank top and was armed with a handgun. Another was wearing red and black shorts and a hat.

Anyone with information on the men seen in the Valero security video is asked to contact Fort Worth detectives at 817-392-4381.
