How many applicants for Fort Worth ISD’s state-appointed board live in district?
The application period for Fort Worth ISD’s state-appointed board of managers wrapped up Monday. Here’s a breakdown of who applied to serve on the board during a state takeover of the school district, including how many applicants live in the district and how many are parents.
With the application period finished, Texas Education Agency officials will begin reviewing applications. The agency will ask selected candidates to go through governance training, and will then interview qualified candidates to serve on the board.
Education Commissioner Mike Morath has said he hopes to have a state-appointed board in place in the spring.
The district’s elected school board voted last month to appeal TEA’s takeover of the district. The takeover decision now goes to the State Office of Administrative Hearings for review.
