Student arrested after Paschal High School bomb threat, Fort Worth police say
Police arrested a juvenile suspect in connection with a bomb threat on Thursday at Paschal High School in Fort Worth.
Police responded to the school, in the 2300 block of West Berry Street, after receiving a 911 call about 3:30 p.m., a Fort Worth police spokesperson said. The caller said a male had a bomb and then disconnected the call.
Police later determined that a student had called in the threat, the spokesperson said. The student is in custody and is expected to face a charge of terroristic threat.
Police said they conducted a sweep of the campus and surrounding area and found no suspicious devices.
Students and staff were safe inside the building as authorities investigated the bomb threat, Paschal Principal Rodney White wrote to parents in an email.
The school was initially under secure status, with exterior doors locked and dismissal on hold. Streets near the school were closed.
As a precaution, officers conducted a systematic release of students and staff. Schools officials said that buses were staged a few blocks away.
“We want to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation throughout this process,” the police spokesperson wrote in a response to a press inquiry. “Please know that situations like this can take time, and the safety of students, staff, and the community is always our top priority.”
The Paschal and Trimble Tech freshman and JV football games that were scheduled to be played at Paschal on Thursday night were rescheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and noon.
