Ryan Wilson, the popular and well-respected principal at Carroll Senior High School, is leaving to start a new chapter in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district, much to the disappointment of many students, teachers and parents who wanted him to stay in Southlake.

The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district announced that Wilson was hired to be the next principal at Boswell High School after the current principal, Vaughn Flagler, was hired as assistant superintendent for human resources in the Anna school district.

“Ryan Wilson is a seasoned leader whose career reflects both depth of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to the students and communities he serves,” said Walter Berringer, the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw executive director of secondary services. “His long tenure in previous roles speaks to the trust he builds with students, families, and staff alike.”

Wilson, who spent 24 years in the Carroll school district as a science teacher and principal at Dawson Middle and Carroll Senior High, learned almost a month ago that his contract was not going to be renewed beyond 2026.

Parents, students and teachers crowded into school board meetings May 5 and May 19 demanding accountability and transparency from trustees.

Carroll Superintendent Jeremy Glenn said in an emailed statement, “Our Board, Administrators, teachers and staff all wish him the absolute best in the next chapter of his professional career.”

A spokesman for the Carroll school district said trustees can’t comment on personnel matters, but Wilson’s contract continued through the next school year.

Wilson said in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw news release that he is looking forward to working with the Boswell students.

“Boswell High School’s strong reputation and commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation resonates deeply with my values as an educator,” Wilson said. “I am honored to bring my passion, experience and dedication to the Boswell and EMS ISD community.”

Many from the Carroll school district also posted messages on the Eagle Mountain Saginaw school district’s Facebook page congratulating Wilson.

Meanwhile, Barringer said, “We are confident his steady leadership and student-focused mindset will be a tremendous asset to Boswell High School.”
