Carroll High School evacuated after anonymous tip about bomb threat, Southlake police say
Students and teachers were evacuated from Carroll High School in Southlake on Wednesday afternoon when police received an anonymous tip about a bomb threat, according to police and school officials.
A search of the school found no threat, police said in an update about 4:30 p.m.
The school, at 800 N. White Chapel Blvd., which is the campus for freshman and sophomores, was evacuated as a precaution, police said about 2 p.m., and officers and firefighters investigated the threat.
Carroll ISD officials said students were taken to Durham Intermediate School, at 801 Shady Oaks Drive, and were being dismissed from there Wednesday afternoon.
One parent said hundreds of people were waiting in line outside the building to pick up their children.
Parts of North White Chapel Boulevard were closed during the investigation but the road has since reopened, police said.
Police said students and staff would be able to get their cars from the school parking lots after the situation was resolved.
Earlier in the day, Carroll Senior High School at 1501 W Southlake Blvd, which is the campus for juniors and seniors, was evacuated because of water pipes bursting and activating the fire alarm system, the school district said. Staff and students were relocated while the fire department assessed the building.
