All students in the Fort Worth Independent School District will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch for the 2023-2024 school year, according to district officials.

The Community Eligibility Provision, a part of the federally funded National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, will be funding the meals, district spokesperson Cesar Padilla said in a news release.

Parents will not have to fill out applications for their children to receive these meals, but alternate income forms may be given so the district can collect income data required for other programs.

“This innovative approach simplifies procedures for both families and school administrators, ultimately leading to improved meal accessibility and nutritional content for students,” Padilla said.

Aramark, a food service company that serves Fort Worth ISD, is also introducing programs “to deliver fun, exciting and tasty experiences to students throughout the coming year,” the release said. This includes new menu items, nutritional meals with fresh fruits and vegetables and globally-inspired foods like veggie chicken dumplings, Korean beef tacos, veggie baja salad and chicken tikka masala.

Daily menus can be viewed on the district website, and parents can reach the district’s child nutrition services at 817-814-3500.
