North Texas teacher resigns after racist, offensive social media posts, district says
A Mesquite ISD teacher resigned after she publicly posted racist and offensive comments on social media, the school district said in a news release Tuesday.
The Mesquite Independent School District “became aware of a series of alarming, racist statements” posted on an account on X — formerly Twitter — that belonged to a teacher at Thompson Elementary, the district said in the release.
Shortly after district staff began investigating on Monday, the teacher resigned from her job Tuesday morning. She is no longer eligible for rehire, according to Mesquite ISD officials.
The district did not identify the teacher by name.
The teacher’s X account has been deleted, but screenshots of the posts have been shared by other users. Screenshots of her profile showed she described herself as a “Black supremacist.”
In one post she wrote, “I enjoy being racist. I’m never changing.”
The posts also included threats toward a white man who was dating the teacher’s sister.
The school district said it is not releasing details about the posts due to privacy restrictions.
“Nevertheless, the highly offensive statements posted to her X account do not reflect the values and standards of Mesquite ISD, and the district condemns them in the strongest terms,” the district said in its statement.
