Southlake Carroll schools face more civil rights investigations from Education Department
The Southlake Carroll school district is now under eight investigations from the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
Among the open investigations are three alleging race discrimination, three alleging gender and sex discrimination and two complaints related to special education, a Department of Education spokesperson said in an email.
NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund filed a complaint with OCR in February 2022 alleging LGBTQ students and students of color were subject to racism and harassment. Another two discrimination complaints were filed in July 2022. Three complaints were filed in November 2021 in relation to race and sexual orientation.
Carroll schools did not immediately return an email requesting comment.
