UPDATE (Nov. 12, 2024): According to Tarrant County court records, a grand jury no-billed this case in November 2023, which means it did not find sufficient evidence to indict the teacher. Mario Pureco Razo said in an email that the allegations were false and that he had planned to voluntarily resign from the school prior to the incident in question.

PREVIOUS STORY (Nov. 5, 2022): A Lake Worth elementary school teacher is in jail after being arrested Friday on allegations of inappropriate conduct toward a student, district officials said.

Mario Pureco Razo, a first-grade teacher at Miller Language Academy, was booked into the Tarrant County Jail after being arrested at his home, Lake Worth police said in a social media post.

In a statement released by the Lake Worth Independent School District on Twitter, officials said Pureco Razo was no longer teaching as of Oct. 21. They said they were not aware of any similar complaints related to other students.

“Although the district has not reached any conclusion as to his guilt or innocence related to the allegations, he is no longer employed by the district,” the letter said.

District officials said they cooperated fully with Child Protective Services and the Fort Worth Police Department once they became aware of the allegations. There are no further details about specific charges or the investigation at this time.
