The Dallas school district may ask students to wear clear backpacks in the upcoming school year.

The school district is asking parents how they feel about their students having clear backpacks, according to WFAA-TV.

The district sent out a survey Tuesday because a school task force is looking to improve overall campus safety for the upcoming school year.

The Kennedale school district, just southeast of Fort Worth, has a clear backpack policy already in place.

The Kennedale district will require all students in grades 6-12 to use clear backpacks.

“Clear bags and backpacks are just another safety measure in our comprehensive plan to increase safety and security in our schools as well as athletic and fine arts venues,” the district said in a release.

The district is also installing safety vestibules in schools.

The Dallas school district will make a decision on the policy by the end of July.
