Fort Worth ISD school board extends superintendent’s contract, approves $25,000 bonus
The Fort Worth ISD school board unanimously voted Tuesday night to extend Superintendent Kent P. Scribner’s contract for an additional eight months, through Aug. 31, 2024.
Scribner’s salary will remain the same at $330,000, and the contract contains a potential annual bonus of $15,000 to $25,000, which Scribner has been offered in previous contracts. Scribner will receive the bonus at the discretion of the board, only if he meets the academic goals established by trustees, according to the contract.
This year, Scribner was awarded $25,000 for meeting those goals of improvement in early literacy, early math, and college, career, and military readiness, a district spokesman said.
Scribner’s full contract will be available on the district’s website when the documents have been signed, spokesman Clint Bond said.
He previously signed a five-year contract in December 2018 that was set to end in December 2023.
Trustees will hold a special board meeting on Sept. 15 to consider plans for reopening schools for in-person instruction on or prior to the planned date of Oct. 5. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and can be watched online, according to a news release. Additional details including how to participate in the public comment portion of the meeting, will be shared on the district website at fwisd.org.
