Crowley high schools to hold graduation ceremonies at Fort Worth’s Coyote Drive-In
Crowley ISD on Thursday announced that it will hold its high school graduation ceremonies at the Coyote Drive-In on Panther Island in Fort Worth next month.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced the cancellation or postponement of tradition tight auditorium seating ceremonies. Some districts have elected to send off the Class of 2020 with online events, while others have looked for alternative in-person arrangements.
The Crowley ISD will hold their two high school graduation ceremonies at the Coyote Drive-In on consecutive nights in mid June. Crowley High’s graduation will be on Sunday, June 14, and North Crowley’s will be the next night. Both ceremonies will start at 9 p.m.
“We are so excited about the fact we’ll be able to celebrate you from outside and be able to send you out with a bang at Coyote Drive-In,” said district superintendent Dr. Mike McFarland during a YouTube video.
The drive-in features two big screens where graduates will be seen walking across the stage, which will be set up under the drive-in’s patio.
McFarland said that each graduate will be allowed one car load of family and friends.
“You’ve been an awesome class that’s dealt with a lot, overcome a lot and our goal is to send you out with a bang, so it’s important for you to be here, be safe and be on time so we can gave a great event,” McFarland said.
On Tuesday, the Texas Education Agency updated its comprehensive graduation guidelines for Texas high schools, which included that all outdoor ceremonies may take place in any Texas county on or after June 1.
Granbury ISD also pushed back its graduation this week, moving its ceremony to Granbury High’s football stadium on June 4 at 8 p.m.
