Can your teacher rap like this? Latino culture is celebrated with music

A Fort Worth math teacher is showcasing Latino culture in a music video that urges students to “Stand up and stand out for what you represent.”

“In an effort to highlight both unity and cultural heritage, various Hispanic and Latino educators along with myself came together with our beautiful students to make the FIRST ever Hispanic Heritage Month Video for the district,” explained Thomas Mayfield, who has made several music videos touting education.

Students, teachers and community leaders typically star in Mayfield’s productions. The latest video is called, “Stand Up, Stand Out.”

The song is based after Nicky Jam’s “X” and J Balvin’s “Mi Gente.

Singers and performers in the video include students and educators from the Leadership Academy at Como, George Clarke, Leadership Academy at Maude Logan and World Languages Institute.

The video was shot and directed by Mr. Keitrick Morris from Umbrella Media and the video was shot at George C. Clarke Elementary in Fort Worth.
