Everman trustees name lone finalist for superintendent
Interim Superintendent Curtis Amos has been named the lone finalist for the Everman school district’s top job.
An educator with more than 20 years of experience, Amos has led the district since Jeri Pfeifer retired in December.
“I am extremely honored to be named the lone finalist to lead Everman ISD,” Amos said in a statement. “There is a rich tradition of excellence found throughout our district from academics to fine arts and athletics.”
The school board recently voted 7-0 in favor of naming Amos the lone finalist. Texas law requires school boards to wait 21 days after announcing a lone finalist before officially hiring that person.
Board President Rick Burgess said Amos was unanimously selected because of his “proven record” in the district.
“We believe he will be a strong leader and look forward to the future,” Burgess said.
Amos has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal and a district administrator in three school districts. He is credited with helping increase student achievement and building partnerships with community agencies and universities.
“I am excited to be part of Everman ISD, where the right expectations are high on student performance and achievement that helps in preparing students to compete in a global society,” Amos said.
