Frisco mother accused of driving into pond with her kids
A mother is accused of driving drunk into a neighborhood pond with her two children over the weekend, police said.
Everyone in the vehicle managed to get out and swim to shore, police said.
Police on Monday identified the woman as Amy Gonzalez Rodiles, 34, of Frisco, who faces two charges of driving while intoxicated with child passenger.
Her children, ages 8 and 10, were released by paramedics to another family member Saturday shortly after the accident.
Police responded to report of a vehicle in a pond shortly after 10 p.m. on Halloween in the 1100 block of Ducks Landing.
Witnesses told police that they saw a vehicle exit the roadway and drive into a pond at the north end of Ducks Landing.
Rodiles and her children managed to open the windows, climb out and swim to shore, police said. Within minutes, the vehicle was submerged.
Paramedics treated the three at the scene after a medical evaluation.
After an initial investigation at the scene, Rodiles was arrested. She posted $2,000 bail on Sunday and was released.
Rodiles could not be reached Monday for comment.
