More than 40 police units were dispatched to North Dallas High School on Tuesday morning, Jan. 6, after a reported bomb threat, officials say.

Police have determined there’s no credible threat at North Dallas High School after they investigated a report claiming there was a bomb in the area Tuesday morning, officials said.

More than 40 police units were dispatched to the Uptown school, located at 3120 N. Haskell Ave., shortly before 8 a.m., the Dallas Morning News first reported.

Dallas Independent School District spokesperson Savannah Hale described the incident as a “swatting prank.” Students weren’t in the building yet when officials learned about the potential threat.

“Police cleared the building. Students and staff went back inside,” Hale told the Star-Telegram in an email.

“Officers secured the campus and determined there was no credible threat,” the Dallas Police Department said in a statement. “The Dallas ISD Police Department will assume responsibility for the ongoing investigation.”

Tuesday was students’ first day back after winter break.
