Live rat, moldy menudo found in latest Dallas health inspections

Dallas restaurant inspectors found a live rat on a glue trap at one location and a pot of moldy soup at another in the latest round of health inspections, according to the inspection report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from Aug. 10 through Aug. 23 and 361 inspections.

Dallas’ restaurant inspections function on a 100-point scale: A score of 100 is considered perfect and points are deducted from there. Restaurants scoring between 79-70 pass, but reinspection is required within 30 days, and any score under 70 is considered failing.

Fuel Stop, located at 5816 Keeneland Parkway, had a score of 64. Investigators saw a large pot of moldy menudo soup in a walk-in cooler, according to the report.

Catfish Smith, located at 4620 Botham Jean Boulevard, had a score of 71 and will require reinspection within 30 days.

Inspectors found rodent issues at two locations:

  • GoPuff, located at 6955 Greenville Avenue, had a score of 84. GoPuff is an online convenience store that delivers in the Lower Greenville neighborhood. Inspectors observed an “active rodent infestation,” including a live rat on a glue trap and rodent contamination of store stock.
  • CVS Pharmacy, located at 8555 Ferguson Road, had a score of 94. Inspectors saw “possible rodent droppings” at the location.
