Roaches found, elementary schools cited in latest Dallas health inspections
Four Dallas restaurants failed inspection and roaches were found at eight others in the city’s latest round of health inspections, according to a report compiled by the Star-Telegram.
The report contains data from two weeks and 384 inspections.
Dallas’ restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system: 100 is considered perfect and 69 is considered failing. Restaurants that fail inspection require a follow-up within 10 days.
Four restaurants failed inspection:
- El Fenix, 1601 Mckinney Ave., had a score of 60.
- Paleteria Delicias, 2008 W. Clarendon Drive, had a score of 60.
- El Toro Sinaloense Sports Bar, 2212 W. Northwest Highway, had a score of 67.
- Antojitos Tierra Caliente LLC, 3924 W. Red Bird Lane, had a score of 69.
Roaches were found at six restaurants and in two elementary school kitchens:
- El Toro Sinaloense Sports Bar, 2212 W. Northwest Highway, had a score of 67.
- Los Garcia’s Restaurant, 10788 Harry Hines Blvd., had a score of 73.
- Walter’s Kitchen Restaurant And Bar, 8010 N. Stemmons Freeway, had a score of 77.
- Breakfast Brothers Express, 921 W. Commerce St., had a score of 80.
- Paleteria La Super, 3439 Banning St., had a score of 80.
- Winnetka Elementary School, 1151 S. Edgefield Ave., had a score of 82.
- James Bowie Elementary School Kitchen, 330 N. Marsalis Ave., had a score of 86.
- Subway Sandwich Shop #4, 2525 Wycliff Ave., had a score of 87.
Another school kitchen, located in Martinez Elementary School at 4500 Bernal Drive, was noted to have issues with moldy and expired food. The school was issued a citation for repeated issues with mold, according to the report.
