Dallas pastor arrested on solicitation of prostitution charges, court records show

A retired pastor at Dallas’ Highland Park United Methodist Church was arrested /after being accused of soliciting prostitution last October, officials with the church confirmed to WFAA-TV.

The pastor, 72-year-old John Fiedler, resigned from the church on Oct. 8, according to WFAA.

Fiedler turned himself in to Carrollton police on Oct. 31, according to copies of court filings.

His wife later informed one of the church’s senior ministers of her husband’s outstanding warrant and Fiedler’s intent to turn himself in, according to WFAA.

The arrest was initially reported this week by The Roys Report, a blog focused on church accountability.

Fiedler was caught during a business inspection at a Carrollton massage parlor, according to a copy of the offense report obtained by The Roys Report.

Fiedler was held in the Carrollton municipal jail before being granted a writ of habeas corpus and released on bond, according to court documents.

Mark Lassiter, Fiedler’s attorney, filed for the writ on the basis that Fiedler had no prior criminal history and had been diagnosed with dementia, according to the documents.
