Dallas police have released footage from a shooting incident on Tuesday, Jan. 7 that left a suspect critically injured, officials said in a news release on Friday.

Officers received six calls around 3:15 p.m. Monday about the suspect — later identified as 52-year-old Michael Alonzo — pointing a gun at passing vehicles on Joaquin Drive, police said.

Two police officers responded to the scene around 3:21 p.m. and found Alonzo standing in the street, according to the statement.

The officers gave Alonzo commands in English and Spanish, which he ignored, leading to both officers firing their guns and striking Alonzo.

Alonzo’s weapon was recovered and determined to be a replica Crosman revolver air pistol, police said.

The suspect will be charged with three counts of deadly conduct with a possibility for additional charges to follow, according to the police statement.

Alonzo had a history of arrests for prostitution and theft by check, police said. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office was also notified of the incident and will conduct its own investigation, officials said.
