The State Fair of Texas is in full swing from now until Oct. 20.
There’s plenty to do and see at the fair, which is why the annual event is perfect for family outings. But what about those on a budget or wondering about fair discounts?
Here’s what to know:
Everyday deals at the State Fair of Texas
The fair has deals every day on admission.
After 5 p.m. every day of the fair, all adults pay child ticket prices. Here’s a cost breakdown on regular adult pricing vs discounted child prices:
- Monday-Thursday: $15 regular price, $10 after 5 p.m. price.
- Friday: $20 regular price, $15 after 5 p.m. price.
- Saturday-Sunday: $25 regular price, $18 after 5 p.m. price.
This means that adults can save between $5-$7 on tickets, just be arriving at the fair after 5 p.m.
The fair offers $5 discounts for military members and first responders who show identification when buying tickets online or in-person. Fairgoers can also save $5 on tickets by finding coupons at McDonald’s and using them at purchase.
A premium ticket is $24 and is valid for any day of the fair. Patrons can get $3 off premium tickets by purchasing them from the check-out counter or service desk at Kroger grocery stores.
Score $5 deals at State Fair of Texas
The fair has a few days where admission is only $5.
If fairgoers bring five canned food items on Wednesdays, admission is only $5. All canned food donations support the North Texas Food Bank.
On Thursdays, seniors 60-years-old and older get into the fair for $5.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, fairgoers can purchase $10 admission tickets online.

Thrifty Thursdays
The fair has special food pricing on Thursdays, which will be on Oct. 3, Oct. 10 and Oct. 17.
