‘A tragic loss:’ Dallas Fire-Rescue mourns off-duty death of driver-engineer

Dallas firefighters are mourning the off-duty death of driver-engineer Officer Jimmy Small.

Small has served with Dallas-Fire Rescue since April 2017, the Dallas Black Firefighters Association said on social media. He died Wednesday, according to the post. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated.

“His passing is a tragic loss for his family, Dallas Fire-Rescue, and the entire Dallas community,” the post reads.

Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed Small’s death in a social media post and asked the community to keep the department and Small’s family in their thoughts and prayers.

Small was most recently assigned to Station 52 as a rescue driver, according to the Dallas Black Firefighters Association.
