Tap-to-pay is coming to a Dallas H-E-B. When will it be available at Texas supermarkets?
In a world where it is commonplace for consumers to make purchases with mobile devices, a Texas grocery store chain is providing the service to its customers.
H-E-B announced that it is piloting digital tap-to-pay systems at the Central Market store in Dallas, according to Mabrie Jackson, managing director of public affairs for H-E-B. Customers will be able to use digital payments with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay.
Jackson said the San Antonio-based grocery is “always exploring a broad range of technologies to enhance how customers shop and pay for products, though has not determined when the service will expand to more of its supermarkets.
How tap-to-pay at H-E-B would work
Tap-to-pay is a contactless payment method in which shoppers can pay for items by tapping a credit or debit card, smartphone, or mobile device instead of swiping or inserting a card into a reader.
How many H-E-B stores are in Texas?
There are more than 380 stores throughout Texas and parts of Mexico. H-E-B ranked sixth on Forbes’ 2022 list of “America’s Largest Private Companies.”
The company also ranked No. 3 on Forbes’ 2024 list of “Customer Experience All-Stars.”
