1 dead, 3 injured in south Dallas shooting outside liquor store; suspect in custody

A woman is dead and three men are injured after being shot in south Dallas outside a liquor store on Thursday afternoon, police say.

A suspect in a shooting that killed one person and injured three Thursday afternoon in south Dallas is in custody after barricading himself inside a business, police said.

Officers responded to the 5300 block of Colonial Avenue around 2 p.m. regarding a shooting. They found one woman and three men with gunshot wounds outside a liquor store. The woman died at the scene, according to police.

Officials haven’t released the woman’s name or age. The men were taken to a local hospital for treatment and are expected to survive, police said.

The shooting suspect, 44-year-old Larry Deckard, barricaded himself inside a business in the 4800 block of Botham Jean Boulevard, police said. SWAT officers responded and took Deckard into custody.

Deckard was evaluated at a hospital and will be charged with murder, according to officials. The investigation is ongoing.
