Kirk Myers-Hill, Dallas community leader and activist, has died
Kirk Myers-Hill, the founder and CEO of Abounding Prosperity Inc. and president of Dallas Southern Pride, has died.
Myers-Hill died Tuesday, according to Abounding Prosperity Inc. staff.
“Mr. Myers-Hill founded AP, Inc. in 2005 and was a tireless advocate for the health and wellness of the Black family, particularly Black LGBTQ+ community members in Dallas,” the nonprofit organization said in a social media post. “His contributions to the community will be deeply missed.”
The community leader was found unresponsive in his office in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Tuesday. The Dallas Police Department said officers were dispatched to that location around 9:30 a.m. Myers-Hill died at the scene, and officials said they are investigating the case as an unexplained death.
Auntjuan Wiley with AIDS Walk South Dallas told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that Myers-Hill’s death is a blow to the community.
“There definitely will be a void,” he said. “There definitely will be a void, especially here in South Dallas.”
All of the Abounding Prosperity offices are closed until further notice, the organization announced on social media.
