Dallas man arrested after abandoning dog on side of road, according to police
A 41-year-old man was arrested Saturday on a charge of animal cruelty, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Ramiro Zuniga was captured on surveillance video intentionally abandoning his dog in the 9000 block of Teagarden Road near Dowdy Ferry Road on Wednesday, according to the preliminary investigation. The video shows the dog chase after his owner’s SUV after Zuniga got in and drove away.
The German shepherd was taken into care by Dallas Animal Services on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Police Department executed a search warrant on Saturday at Zuniga’s home, finding the vehicle used in the crime, police said. Zuniga was taken into custody at his house.
When interviewed by police, Zuniga admitted to abandoning his family’s dog, named Max, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by WFAA-TV.
Zuniga faces a charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals for abandonment.
