18-wheeler crashes and spills thousands of pounds of eggs, shuts down Dallas highway
An 18-wheeler crashed and spilled thousands of pounds of eggs in Dallas on Monday, shutting down westbound Interstate 30 near downtown during morning rush hour and into the afternoon.
The 18-wheeler hit a bridge near I-30 and Interstate 45 early Monday morning and spilled 35,000 pounds of eggs all over the road, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office told KXAS-TV.
Westbound I-30 was completely shut down for several hours as crews worked to clean up the eggs. Traffic was being diverted to I-45. The westbound lanes reopened about 3 p.m., although HOV lanes remained closed, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
Fuel also leaked onto the road, according to the NBC station. The driver was not injured in the crash.
