Father fatally shoots teen daughters, then kills himself in home near Dallas, police say

A 63-year-old Mesquite man shot his teenage daughters to death then fatally shot himself in the family’s home, Mesquite police said.

Detectives have not determined a motive for the murder-suicide.

Mesquite police identified the teens as Natasha and Alexa Haydel, who were found dead in their Mesquite home Monday night. Their father, Raymond Haydel, also was found dead in the home.

Mesquite police responded to a shooting call shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Bradford Place in Mesquite, which is about 10 miles east of Dallas.

Mesquite police first located Raymond Haydel with a gunshot wound to his head lying on the floor inside his home.

As they searched the home, patrol officers later discovered the bodies of a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl. Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Mesquite police said in a news release.

Police said no one else was living in the home at the time of the shooting.

Natasha Haydel had graduated from Forney High School on June 1, according to KDFW-TV. The younger sister, Alexa, had just completed her sophomore year at Forney High.

Both sisters were in the high school band, according to the news report.
