Baby taken from grandparents by mom found safe after Amber Alert, Irving police say

A 7-month-old girl was found safe Monday evening after an Amber Alert was issued Sunday night, police said. Authorities believed the baby was in grave danger after being taken by her mother out of an Irving senior living home.

The child was located and placed into Child Protective Services’ custody, but a search continued for the mother Monday night, Irving police tweeted shortly before 7 p.m.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued the alert Sunday for 7-month-old Serenity Berry, who had been placed with her grandparents who live at a senior living home, according to the DPS and news reports.

Officials with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services had placed the child with her grandparents, according to WFAA-TV.

WFAA-TV also reported that Jocelyn Bridges, 35, showed up at the home about 7 p.m. Sunday and caused a commotion by setting off fire alarms and knocking on doors. When the grandparents opened their door, Bridges reportedly rushed in, grabbed her baby and ran away.
