North Texas woman fatally mauled by dogs as she visits them in quarantine
A woman was fatally mauled by her two pit bulls in Irving on Saturday morning, police said.
The woman was visiting her dogs at the O’Connor Animal Hospital where the dogs were quarantined after biting someone, according to Irving police.
While at the clinic, the dogs attacked their owner, 33-year-old Johana Villafane, police said in a press release.
Staff called police at about 11:45 a.m., when they found the woman on the ground as the dogs attacked her.
The dogs would not let staff or police near the woman. An officer shot and killed both dogs in order to get Villafane away from the dogs, police said.
She later died at Parkland Hospital from her injuries.
