Suspect shot and killed after high-speed chase in Dallas County; officer injured in struggle
A suspect was shot and killed and a Mesquite police officer was injured after a high-speed chase on Monday afternoon in Dallas County, police said.
The incident began at 3:45 p.m. when Mesquite police responded to a suspicious person call in the 2600 block of Towne Centre Drive. The suspect fled in a car, Dallas police said.
Mesquite officers followed in pursuit all the way to Garland before the suspect's vehicle flipped and crashed on the northbound side of I-635 and Garland Road, Dallas police said.
The suspect then fled on foot as Mesquite and Garland officers chased. Officers caught up with him in the 12100 block of Self Plaza in Dallas. The suspect was shot during a struggle with an officer and taken to a local hospital where he died from injuries, police said.
No police officers were shot, but one Mesquite officer was injured and taken to an area hospital, police said.
