An Arlington man is dead after he was ejected from his vehicle while trying to flee from police, according to authorities.

Police stopped the driver about 3 a.m. Tuesday on Shiloh Road near Forest Lane because his vehicle did not have a license plate, according to a news release.

The driver, who was later identified as 22-year-old Kendall Deontay Shannon of Arlington, sped away before police could make an identification, the release said. Shannon drove away in a gray Acura.

Officers pursued the vehicle into Dallas where they saw Shannon lose control of his vehicle and strike a utility pole. The vehicle then rolled over several times, the release said. Shannon was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Shannon did not present officers with a driver's license but identified himself verbally, according to officers. When officers approached his vehicle a second time, Shannon drove away, the release said.

Officers recovered a gun reported stolen out of Dallas that police said they believe was inside the vehicle. Shannon was reported to have an active outstanding warrant for unlawfully carrying a weapon out of Dallas County, the release said.
