15-year-old accused of killing Dallas mother of 6 at Dollar General

A juvenile has been detained in the killing of a Dallas mother at a Dollar General store this week, police said Thursday.

Police are not naming the suspect, who is 15, because he is a juvenile.

Gabrielle Simmons, 27, was working as a cashier at the Oak Cliff store on Monday when the suspect walked in and began demanding money, police said.

Simmons handed the cash register drawer to the suspect, and the suspect fired a gunshot, which hit Simmons in the chest.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died. Simmons had six children, according to WFAA.

The suspect was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of Kilburn Avenue, several blocks from the store.
