Police look for man who robbed driver at a Haltom City intersection
Police on Wednesday released a sketch of a suspect in a robbery on Aug. 16, police said.
When a driver, a man in his mid-20s, stopped about 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Haltom and Stanley Keller roads, the thief, who was described as frail, unkempt and dirty, knocked on the car window, Haltom City police Detective Matt Spillane said.
Thinking the man was a panhandler asking for money, the driver rolled down the passenger-side window, according to a Haltom City police Facebook post.
The robber took out a large chrome revolver and demanded for the driver’s wallet. He grabbed the cash, dropped the wallet and ran.
The intersection is a transition point from a residential to a business district with a lot of foot traffic, so police are tyring to find witnesses.
The robber is Anglo, about 180 pounds, 6 feet tall, between 55 and 65 with white shoulder-length hair with specks of black, a long white beard and several age spots on his upper cheeks, police said.
