A man believed to be driving a stolen car ran from police on foot after it caught fire and eventually got away on Dallas/Fort Worth Airport property Tuesday night, police said.

Grand Prairie police tried to pull over the suspect at Texas 360 and Trinity Boulevard at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Grand Prairie police spokesman Lyle Gensler said.

The man drove north on Texas 360 until he got to the airport, and appeared to realize he was heading toward a dead end, Gensler said. He turned around and drove south until his vehicle, reported stolen from Killeen, caught fire.

He then ran from officers, Gensler said.

Authorities from Irving, Texas Department of Safety, Fort Worth, Euless and the airport assisted with the search, which was called off without success at about 11 p.m.
