A year after Martin student’s murder, tragedy is still real for family and friends

On Jan. 10, 2015, Carl Wilson worked out for coaches at Kilgore College, moving one step closer to his dream of becoming a collegiate football player. By all accounts, the Martin High School standout and young father was on the right path, determined to rise above his tough upbringing and make a better life for his son.

Two days later, that dream was shattered.

Wilson was gunned down outside an Arlington car wash. A gang member would later be arrested. Devin Holland is scheduled to stand trial for the murder later this month.

Today, on the one-year anniversary of Wilson’s death, his family, friends, teachers and coaches hold tight to the memory of the loyal and loving young man they lost too early. Videographer Jared L. Christopher shares the Carl Wilson Story: Remembering #28.
