Suspect identified in fatal Fort Worth shooting
A 54-year-old man remained in custody Wednesday, accused of fatally shooting another man during an altercation at an apartment.
Jail records identified the suspect as Donald Fourqurean, who was in the Mansfield Jail.
Police arrested Fourqurean early Tuesday shortly after the shooting. He remained in jail Wednesday with bail set at $500,000.
The victim was identified as Jimmy Ellis, 46, of Fort Worth, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Patrol officers responded to a shooting call about shortly before 12:10 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 4800 block of East Lancaster Ave.
Officers found the body of a man inside the front door of the apartment, police said. He appeared to have been shot several times, officer Daniel Segura said Tuesday in an email.
Homicide detectives determined that the suspect came to the apartment to smoke narcotics with the victim and other people. At some point, the suspect and victim got into an altercation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim many times, Segura said.
Fourqurean was interviewed by detectives and was later arrested.
