Denton shooting leaves two dead at apartments

Denton police arrived at the Castle Rock at Denton on Sunday evening to find two dead, two injured and a third on the loose.

When police arrived at 5:44 p.m., two male suspects were found shot to death at the apartment complex, said officer Orlando Hinojosa, a police spokesman.

On Monday morning, Denton police called the episode a home invasion robbery.

Hinojosa said a shooting occurred involving three suspects and two victims, but he could not say why detectives are calling the two men who were pronounced dead suspects.

He said a third man who is also considered a suspect fled — he didn’t know whether he was on foot or in a car. It is unclear whether he is injured, police said.

The shooting happened at 1541 Meadow St., Hinojosa said.

Two male victims were taken to Denton Regional Emergency Center with injuries that are not life-threatening, Hinojosa said.

Names and ages of the victims were not released.

Hinojosa couldn’t say whether any involved are students at the University of North Texas or Texas Woman’s University.
