Parker County man jailed in shooting of utility worker
An Aledo man was arrested Friday morning after Parker County sheriff’s officials say he shot a utility worker on his property because he wanted the man to leave.
Mark Ryan Wright, 42, faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. in the 100 block of Links Lane in southern Parker County.
According to a news release, the worker was part of a crew subcontracted by a utility company to install copper cable on Wright’s property.
Wright told deputies that he did not want the worker on his property and that he shot the man after repeatedly asking him to leave.
The worker was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for an injury described as serious but not life-threatening.
Deputies seized a 20-gauge shotgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.
Wright was booked into Parker County Jail and was released after posting $7,500 bail, according to jail records.
